Achievement in Asia Award (Robert T. Poe Prize)

The International Organization of Chinese Physicists and Astronomers (OCPA) welcomes nominations for the 2024 Achievement in Asia Award (AAA) (Robert T. Poe Prize). The AAA is presented annually to a physicist/astronomer (or a team of Physicists/astronomers) of Chinese ethnicity working in Asia who has (have) made outstanding contributions in physics or astronomy. It carries a cash prize of U.S. $2,000.

An AAA candidate (either the individual or the group leader) should not exceed 50 years of age. The candidate should be nominated by a senior physicist with the following supporting materials:

  1. A brief statement by the nominator describing the research work performed in Asia for which the candidate or the team is nominated.
  2. A curriculum vitae and a list of major publications of the candidate or the team.
  3. Three letters of recommendation.
  4. No more than three major publications (in PDF format) of the research based on which the candidate or the team is nominated.

We strongly encourage that all nomination materials be collected by nominators and submitted in PDF format to the Awards chair via email. The deadline for the receipt of the nomination material is August 15, 2024. The nomination will be active for 2 calendar years, subjected to the condition delineated above. Outstanding Young Researcher Award (Ardentec Prize)

The International Organization of Chinese Physicists and Astronomers (OCPA) welcomes nominations for the 2024 Outstanding Young Researcher Award, OYRA (Ardentec Prize). The OYRA (Ardentec Prize) is given annually to one to two physicist(s) and/or astronomer(s) of Chinese ethnicity working in North America, Europe, or other regions outside Asia, to encourage and recognize the young researcher’s contributions in physics or astronomy. The award to each recipient will carry a cash prize of U.S. $3,000, thanks to the generous support of the Ardentec Corporation.

An OYRA candidate should be nominated by the Department Chair/Head of his/her institution (universities, national and industrial labs) and should have received the Ph.D. degree within the past 10 years (January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2024). The following materials should be submitted to support the nomination:

  1. A brief statement by the nominator describing the research work for which the candidate is nominated. 
  2. A curriculum vitae and a list of major publications of the candidate.
  3. Three letters of recommendation.
  4. No more than three major publications (in PDF format) of the research based on which the candidate is nominated.

Outstanding Dissertation Award (ODA)

The International Organization of Chinese Physicists and Astronomers (OCPA) welcomes nominations for the 2024 Outstanding Dissertation Award (ODA). The award is given annually to up-to-four Ph.D. recipients in physics and/or astronomy world-wide of Chinese ethnicity world-wide. Each year the award carries a total cash prize of USD $1000. Each recipient may receive a maximum of USD $500. 

An ODA candidate should be nominated by his/her thesis advisor and should have received the Ph.D. degree within the past two years (January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2024). The following materials should be submitted to support the nomination:

  1. A brief statement by the nominator describing the research work for which the candidate is nominated, and its potential impact.
  2. A curriculum vitae and a list of significant publications of the candidate.
  3. Three letters of recommendation.

We strongly encourage that all nomination materials be collected by nominators and submitted in PDF format to the Awards chair via email. The deadline for the receipt of the nomination material is August 15, 2024. The nomination will be active for 2 calendar years, subjected to the condition delineated above.
