2025 ODA Awardee - Shixiong Yin
CUNY Advanced Science Research Center

Citation:“For his original and significant contributions to the field of wave physics and nanophotonics detailed in his outstanding dissertation “Enhanced Light-Matter Interactions in Complex Photonic Systems”.
Bio: Dr. Yin received his B.Eng. from Harbin Institute of Technology in 2019, majoring in wireless technology and electromagnetic fields. He earned his Ph.D. in December 2024 from The City College of the City University of New York under the supervision of Prof. Andrea Alù, with research in wave physics spanning nanophotonics and electromagnetics. During his Ph.D., he received multiple grants and fellowships, including the Dr. Joan Eliasoph Fellowship for Early Career STEM Researchers and the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society Doctoral Research Grant. He has published 18 articles in high-impact journals, including Nature Physics and Physical Review Letters. From January to July 2025, he was a postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Nader Engheta’s group at the University of Pennsylvania, advancing wave-based analog computing with a patent application currently being filed. In August 2025, he joined Apple as a hardware module engineer, applying his physics and engineering expertise to product development.
